Multi-purpose residential development in an urban village

Exchange Square is an exciting new urban village in Birmingham that forms part of the £350m Masshouse Masterplan.

Located close to the main universities and colleges, and directly opposite the new Curzon HS2 terminal, Exchange Square sits between the city’s traditional business and retail districts, and the progressive Eastside.

As well as shops, cafes and restaurants, within Exchange Square sit three tower blocks offering 603 high quality apartments, a 5,000 sq ft residents’ hub including a concierge and members club style private lounge.

We were appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to supply and install the full carpentry and joinery works to the 603 apartment scheme, which consisted of 3,300 door sets, 33,000 lineal meters of skirting, 36,000 lineal meters of architrave and associated carpentry works.

Working across three buildings of 27, 14 and seven story’s a full just in time delivery schedule was produced by DP Interiors to ensure the timely delivery of materials arrived on site just in time for installation in line with the clients programme of works. Once delivered all door sets were distributed to the required floors, eliminating our need for large storage space within the tight city center boundaries. The coordination from manufacture to installation by DP Interiors proved invaluable in fulfilling a demanding roll out programme of fire rated door sets.

Exchange Square is located between the city’s traditional business and retail districts and the progressive Eastside, which has been the focus for a sustained period of investment and regeneration, including the Curson Masterplan and the city’s HS2 terminus.
