Client: Kier Construction
Project: Joseph Priestly Building
Location: Birmingham
Value: £450,000.00
Sector: Commercial

6 Cardigan Street, formally now known as The Joseph Priestly Building was a 45,000 sq ft Grade A office development, part of the first phase of Birmingham’s vibrant new regeneration project.

Eastside Locks will create a thriving new quarter in the heart of the city conveniently situated next to the planned high speed HS2 station.

Consisting of a single office building arranged over basement, ground plus three upper floors, DP Interiors provided the full internal dry lining and suspended ceiling works, whilst also providing rigid insulation to the basement soffit. The metal suspended ceilings works were carefully designed with a perimeter MF margin incorporating ventilation grills to ensure a full tile ceiling with no cuts was achieved.

External rendering work was also completed to the underside of the double height entrance lobby which sits beneath the cantilevered second and third floors, over-sailing the pavement to provide a dramatic sense of arrival.

Now home to around 400 of Birmingham City University’s support services staff, DP Interiors are pleased to have completed on time, to budget and to an exceptional high standard, shown through the building receiving ‘Project Of The Year’ for the Built Environment Hub Constructing Excellence Awards – West Midlands 2017.

Client: Arden Academy
Project: Reconfiguration off Youth Centre
Location: Knowle, Solihull
Value: £500,000.00
Sector: Education

Having previously worked with Arden Academy on a number of occasions, carrying out refurbishment works and the upgrade of non fire rated doors to fire rated doors. DP was invited to tender for the reconfiguration of their school youth centre into modern teaching facilities.

Offering our extensive refurbishment experience, we were able to offer design knowledge alongside value engineering services to ensure Arden were receiving the best value their budget could offer.

Awarded the full fit out contract by Arden as principal contractor, the full fit out works consisted of upgrading external windows to a double glazed system to reduce the buildings energy consumption. Upgrade off mechanical and electrical services to ensure all classrooms were sufficiently supported with the correct amount of heating and electrical outputs, suspended ceiling, dry lining, carpentry, flooring, furnishings and decoration works producing the high quality teaching facilities required.

Understanding our client’s requirements, the works were carried out during term time, completed to budget and within a tight timescale. Working with our client, we ensured the works and associated material deliveries caused as little impact to the school as possible whilst making sure all staff and pupils were safe at all times.

Our Clients Testimonial

“As with many Schools and Academies, quality learning and teaching space is always at a premium with demand constantly outweighing availability. DP Interiors converted a very tired old 1960’s ‘Youth Centre’ building at Arden Academy, into modern contemporary learning and teaching spaces that are simply amazing. The building underwent a full facelift producing new learning spaces which includes a Dance studio, Drama studio, new toilet facilities and four superbly finished classrooms. DP Interiors completed the project on time and on budget after a very competitive tender was accepted. DP worked with Arden as the refurbishment was completed in term time, understanding and accommodating the needs of a working school whilst getting the project completed to a first class standard. As the client and senior manager of the school responsible for delivering the project, DP Interiors provided us with an excellent all round service giving Arden exactly what they needed.”
