A student accommodation facility, University Locks situated in the centre of Birmingham and part of the city’s Eastside regeneration project delivers 659 student bedrooms alongside communal areas across two 9 storey blocks and one 17 storey block.
DP Interiors completed the full internal dry lining, partitioning, plastering and ceilings package whilst simultaneously completing the supply and fit carpentry and bespoke joinery packages. Early engagement with our client, allowed DP Interiors to offer a service of all door sets to be pre hung at manufacturing stage prior to installation on site. The ability to do this within the carpentry package offered a number of key benefits for the project and our client. Demanding deadlines were achievable, with saving on installation time over site constructed equivalents whilst also ensuring the accuracy of all door sets. Providing this service also reduced the amount of wastage created on site, whilst allowing us to safely control the amount of associated wood dust to prevent connected health risks to our operatives and surrounding trades.
A total of 2,120 fire rated door sets were delivered in successive stages throughout the project by means of just in time delivers to suit the programme of works. Once delivered all door sets were distributed to the required floors, eliminating our need for large storage space within the site boundaries. The coordination from manufacture to installation by DP Interiors proved invaluable in fulfilling a demanding roll out programme of fire rated door sets.
Completing the dry lining, ceilings and carpentry packages provided our client with a clear point of communication for a high proportion of the internal fit out works. This allowed for productive planning between key trades to ensure tight deadlines were constantly achieved throughout the project.
